update

last tuesday's doctor visit had me at 1cm dilated and 85% effaced.
today has me at 2cm and 95% and the baby's head is at a -2 station.
basically - the chances of me making it to the due date are slim - I'll be surprised if I make it to my birthday.
so this means I've gotta kick it into high gear with all my stuff at work.

the bump

Julie Miller of La Memoire Photography shot our maternity photoshoot yesterday. while she goes through the almost 300 pictures from the shoot, i requested for her to pick a cute one that i could post.

40 days left - almost like Lent

so, looking at the calendar - there are only 40 days left until this little one is 40 weeks. will the kid stay in there that long? who knows?!
as of today - i've beaten my own gestation time - so i guess that something to be "proud" of.
i've finally found a pretty pleasant configuration of pillows that makes sleeping pretty ok - good thing we have a king or i think mr. c would be sleeping somewhere else. still suffering through what i'm now not-so-affectionately calling "the plague". but, with any luck - it won't last the rest of my life.

we dropped the girls off at grandma & grandpa c's house to stay the weekend. apparently they did pretty good. ginger barked at the cats - to be expected. but i guess all in all they were well behaved.

we had a very lovely trip to galesburg, il this past weekend. the wedding was great. the reception was a BLAST (i danced so much that when we got to the hotel i had it in my head that i had overdone it and i was going to go into labor). (pictures to come)

on the drive back home on sunday, we stopped in chicago to visit mr. & mrs. l and had a lovely stroll a few blocks from their place and had a yummy snack at coldstone! then we walked back to hang out at their place for a bit. (pictures to come)

in the middle of the night

so...I've had this "cold" for all of July and it's looking like i'm starting august with it as well. after a round of amoxicillin and a round of augmentin, throw in some narcotic cough medicine, lots of water and probably not enough rest-I think now my allergies are starting to kick in. I'm lying awake now due to some lovely post-nasal drip. the baby gets annoyed when I cough - so I feel bad for that. I've also been taking my anti-throwup medicine more than usual cuz I cough so hard I get sick without it.

had an ultrasound on Thursday. baby is doing really well. still maintaining the 60th percentile for growth. as of then, weight was 4lb 14oz - coincidentally the weight that I dropped down to when I was in the hospital. I was 6 weeks early at 5lb 6oz. it's so weird to think that!

the baby shower brought tons of cute and very useful stuff home. the nursery is in a bit of disarray at the moment, but it'll all come together. our moms have been very helpful in get stuff organized. but my top priority at the moment is getting everything set at work for while I'm gone on leave. i've almost got everything set, but I'll feel so much better when it's done.

this upcoming weekend we're traveling down to galesburg, il to celebrate ms. z and mr. b's wedding. ms. z was one of my bridesmaids and I'm super excited. it'll also be mr. c's and my last big outing before it's the 5 of us. mr.c's parents will be watching the girls while we're gone. they'll have a pretty full house with 5 dogs and 9 cats. whew!

well - I'm gonna try laying back down before the alarm goes off in a little while to get up and go to church.
