Please keep my friend Katie's dad, Mark, in your prayers. After acting very strangely this morning, they took him to the hospital and discovered a brain tumor. They are moving him to a different hospital with better diagnostic equipment to find out if it is the good kind (operable) or the not-so-good kind (inoperable).

She is very near her due date with her 2nd little one and not only does her dad need prayers, but definitely pray for her and baby-to-be, Alex, that they stay safe during this very stressful time.

ah the guilt

After going back and forth about it for a while now, I've finally made the decision to stop pumping milk for the little guy. we started adding formula at 7 weeks - a week before he started at daycare. I wanted to make sure there would be food available to him no matter the circumstance. it's been a tough transition to being back to work full time and staying on track with a schedule. production isnt enough to justify the time and energy that goes into it. he's healthy and thriving and I know he'll be fine. I just feel guilty because I feel like it's the only way for me to be with during the day when I'm not with him. on the plus side I only have to worry about weening him from a bottle.

we're trying to be a little bit more frugal, so mr c got me a 1/2 dozen roses from Aldi for $3.99. there still blooming and very pretty. they smell great!

during the blizzard 2 weeks ago, I skinned my knuckle pretty bad while I was shoveling. a couple days later I was holding the little guy and saw some blood on him. I just figured it was from my finger and didn't think anything of it - did our normal bath routine and put him to bed.

the next day I was putting a new outfit on him and there was blood again. but spots all over on his left side - right in the nipple area. for the last week and a half it's kept happening. at first, I thought maybe it was chapped, but even after slathering Vaseline it wasn't helping - so I got an appt with the doctor this morning.

it turns out that he has mammary duct ectasia. it's very rare and usually spontaneously resolves itself. in even rarer cases it requires surgery to remove the offending duct(s). so it's a keep an eye on it and wait and see type deal.

we also need to wait a few more weeks to try baby food again. he's showing slight excema and the doctor doesnt want to take a chance at him developing anything food allergy related.

he weighed in at 18lb 4oz - the 83rd percentile. so he's doing just fine in the growth department. it'll be fun to see where he's at in march at his 6 month check up.

carrots

we tried carrots for the first time last night. he ate the whole jar and his usual 6 Tbsp of cereal.

we're going through a growth spurt and the little guy's schedule is totally off. usually - on daycare days I get ready for work, get his bag ready then wake him up, change him and head out the door. today - he was up at 3:30 this morning drank about 10oz then went back to sleep finally around 5. then he was squawking at 7, so I put him in his bouncer in the bathroom while I got ready. he was quite the happy guy.

his feet touch the ground now. I think he's really enjoying himself. what do you think? (I apologize for the outfit - we had a spit up situation and I didn't want to go upstairs or deal with socks so I just used the onesie from the diaper bag)

just got a call that daycare is closing at 3:30 so I have to pick up the little guy.

this is the view onto the patio at work - the worst is yet to come. they're forecasting another 10 inches!
