adjustments for puppies

Ginger and Hazel have had a hard time getting used to the new little thing. when we got home from the hospital on Thursday night, the howled and barked every time August made a noise or moved. they didn't settle down until about 3:30am. I was ready to lock them out in the garage.

Hazel seems to be more protective of him, but doesn't really mess with him. she'll sniff him and give him little kisses. Ginger has some more maternal tendencies. she likes to tuck his blankets around him. here's a video of that:

I haven't taken any pictures with my camera, but have been taking them on my phone. we'll be doing a photo shoot with julie soon. here are some pictures of the little man over the last week.

it's a boy!

we came home yesterday with a brand new little boy. he made his grand entrance on Tuesday night at 8:46pm weighing 8lbs 12ozs at 21in long. more on the details later.
i got to celebrate my 26th birthday yesterday by bringing he this sweet little bundle. couldn't have asked for anything better.

38 weeks

38 weeks today - not much change from my appointment last week. now between 2 and 3cm and still 90-95% effaced. I wouldn't say I'm that uncomfortable, but more anxious. just want to see this little person. I get to go the the chiropractor tomorrow - convinced this has been making a world of difference. Friday is my next ultrasound - last week baby passed "with flying colors". so we'll see how everything is in there this week.

argh.

well - Wednesday night I had pretty irregular contractions for about 5 hours. then nothing.

starting around 5:30pmish yesterday I started having them every 10 minutes for about two hours and then they were every 5-6 minutes for about an hour and a half. the dr said to try to get some sleep if possible - so I laid down, was still getting them. I was able to fall asleep, woke up from one around 1:30am - now it's like one or two an hour.

glad I didn't rush to the hospital when they were 5-6 minutes apart - even though we're only 10 minutes away.

mr. c just left for work and will be back around 8:30 - gonna try to get some rest til then. once he gets home, maybe we can go for a nice walk.

I just hope this isn't what the next couple of weeks will be like - and these are signs of things starting.

had my 37 week checkup at the doctor today and found that everything is the same as last week - this is quite the relief as I'm trying to get as much work done as possible (not to mention another full paycheck). so - little squirmy is still sharing my body for now. only 20 days left according to the calendar!
