date night

I got comp tickets to the NBA bucks vs lakers game tonight. junior stayed home and is being watched by one of his favorite teachers from his daycare. the bucks won - go home team!

not a fan

so. it's an understatement that I like Disney. I love it. you know what I live more? Beauty and the Beast. you know what I love even more than that? Beauty and the Beast in 3D. how much more awesome can life get?!
we made a date with a friend and her little girl who is 3 weeks older than Jr. we met at the theater on Saturday afternoon. it was right around nap time. I thought for sure he would snuggle up and sleep through it. not so. he was FREAKED out by the whole being in the dark thing. so. I listened to the beginning of the movie out in the hallway, and daddy got to enjoy the end of the movie out in the hallway.
here he is, happy as can be that he's not sitting in the dark. oh well.

smarty pants

i was giving the little guy a bath the other night, and he was playing away. the drain plug is a 2 piece plastic thing that the bottom part fits into the drain, and the top part flexes down or up depending on if you want water to go through or not. the top part came off, and it was nearing the end of his bath, so i just put it up on the ledge to let the water drain. he saw it and grabbed it and i told him to put it back where it belonged. he moved the toys that were collecting by the drain and put the little top - upside down - over the bottom part to stop the water. then took it off to let the water through, then put it back on... so much fun to watch his little brain wheels turning!

nerdy?

i think so.
i was driving today, and there was a state issued license (not a vanity plate) that said 123-HJP (numbers were changed to protect the innocent).
is it bad that i instantly went - Harry James Potter - that's a way cool license plate. it would have been way aweseomer had the 3 digits been his birthday. but alas - they weren't.

absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Sorry for the absence of posts! After his doctor visit, he was not himself all weekend, and Tuesday night we went to urgent care after days of no sleep, fevers, and a complete lack of appetite. sure enough he had his first ear infection. we are on the mend, catching up on sleep and all that. i'd say that today (daycare was closed for MLK day, so I took off to be with the munchkin) he's been the most himself i've seen in quite a while. it's been a joy - we took a nice nap this afternoon!

check up

seems little guy is thriving. here are the stats from his 15 month check yesterday (a week shy of 16 months).
height: 32.75" (87%)
weight: 27lb 6oz (82%)
head: 50cm (98%)

the doctor said he seems to be right on track with his hand/eye coordination, his language skills, and his eating/drinking. we need to work in a little bit more flouridated water into the routine, but all in all everything went very well. 

he had 4 shots, and they did a finger prick to get two micro-vials of blood to check for anemia and test his lead levels, which is important to check since our house was built in the twenties.

when we got home, i put him in his high chair, and gave him an applesauce pouch to help him settle down while i was making dinner. he wasn't looking so hot, and then got sick all over himself and the chair. grandpa said he wasn't very interested in eating much during the day - and i'm pretty sure the whole day came back up. so he could have had something coming on, and the combination of getting so worked up during the shots and then the finger prick, that his day just wasn't tolerated very well. poor fellow.
